In Italy, food is an expression of love. It is how you show those around you that you care for them. Having a love for food means you also have a love for those you are preparing it for and for yourself.
It comes as no surprise then that Antonino’s love of food began early in his childhood watching the magic happening in nonna’s kitchen – Nonna Vicky.
Antonino shares a deep and loving care for his family’s cooking history: recipes are passed on with care and pride. As a symbol of their heritage and roots beginning all those years ago in Sinopoli, Calabria.
It is hard to imagine Antonino being destined to be anything other than a chef.
As the son of restaurant owners – Carmine & Co in Port Adelaide – Antonino grew up learning how to prepare, cook, and serve food.
“You’re never really done training. I have been cooking for over 15 years and there are many aspects that are constantly evolving in cooking. Learn from your mistakes, be fearless, creative, and above all have fun!” – Antonino Misale.
He particularly excelled in the culinary art of pizza making. Lovers of pizza understand the unparalleled richness of flavour a woodfired pizza brings to the table. The endeavour to launch Locale Woodfire Catering wasn’t a matter of if, but when.
Locale Woodfire Catering was birthed in September 2019. If you’re an Adelaide foodie, and want to indulge in Antonino’s woodfire catering experience – he can be found hosting events every Wednesday at 31 King st, Norwood.
Alternatively, his woodfire catering of mouth-watering traditional Italian food can be catered in-home or your local venue.
This story began decades ago in Sinopoli. It found a home in Adelaide. It continues with Antonino’s vision. You feel it watching him work. And you taste it with every bite.

Locale Woodfire Catering launched in September 2019.
